FEBRUARY 09, 2020 | WORDS BY EVIE RØRVIK | @EVIE.SHARON
Hailing from the picturesque mountain region of Norway and now currently calling the shores of Sydney home, Evie Rorvik epitomises Scandi style with an Aussie twist. Signed to an enviable list of agencies across the globe her work often takes her to far flung locations, but when downtime calls Evie’s dedication to all thing’s nutrition keeps her balanced. We caught up with Evie following her campaign for our new Femme Élan range to discover a little more about her thoughts on the industry, top beauty advice & life outside of modelling.
How old were you when you first began modelling?
I was 13 years old when my mum and I played with the potential of me venturing into the world of modelling, we sent off an application to one of the local agencies in town and from there I’ve worked my way up. Despite frustration and at times long periods of no work, I fast learnt the art of patience and dedication.
Where do you call home?
Home is where my heart is, and that’s first and foremost with my husband and whatever place we find ourselves in. We both grew up in this beautiful town in Norway called Bergen. We’re lucky that way, because we’ll always long back to the mountains and fjords of our birthplace, although we love living in Sydney for the time being.
As someone who is lucky enough to be signed to different agencies around the world, what’s been the most memorable place you’ve travelled to?
I think one of my favourite destinations so far would be London. I love that it’s so close to so many beautiful spots in Europe, and that the city feels like a melting pot of so many cultures.
Who’s your favourite photographer that you’ve worked with? Working with Pierre Toussaint on this latest campaign has been an enormous highlight, his work is incredible & he’s so professional in all that he does. Despite his experience he has remained so humble and has the ability to make you feel really comfortable & inspired on set.
How do you keep a healthy mind, body and soul in an industry that can be so consumed with image?
I believe the three are tightly wired together. If one’s hurting, it affects the other parts. Thought management has become a deal breaker for my mental health. I am the one in control of my mind, and no thought should pass through unchecked. If I dwell on a negative thought for too long, about myself or others, it becomes a toxic mindset. When I first became aware of this I started doing a daily detox of my mind; filtering out the thoughts that didn’t align with truth. However, what truly keeps me in check is my faith- knowing there’s a God who loves me just as I am.
Being a model on the go what are your top 3 beauty secrets you can share with us? My number one beauty secret to keep my skin hydrated with an unrefined Shea butter from Ghana. It’s a thick cream that melts when applied to skin, leaving it hydrated for hours. I use it before bed and on long flights. My other beauty secret is awareness of my facial muscles, making sure I don’t have tension in my forehead when stressed, and keeping my mouth pointing up rather than down. I also do exercises to train my facial muscles. My final little beauty trick is getting a daily vitamin dose - Citrus fruits like mandarins and lemon really gives my face that extra glow. Our skin and hair are built up of cell tissues, so if my cells aren’t functioning well, it shows.

What do you enjoy doing in your downtime?
I’m very passionate about food and nutrition, so whenever I have some time off from modelling, I’m focused on nutrition coaching. Our brain is designed to constantly expand its capacity by adding new knowledge to our memories. I look to learn something new each day, whether it’s from a podcast, a book or my studies.
What does your perfect summer day look like?
I didn’t grow up around beaches, but the mountains, and the sun doesn’t set until right before midnight where I’m from. So, a perfect summer day to me is a late evening mountain hike, gazing at the view while enjoying a piece of my favourite chocolate.
If you could fly in 1 meal from anywhere in the world what would it be?
My grandma’s vegetable stew.
How would you describe your personal style?I’m definitely under the influence of scandi minimalism with earthy tones and minimal shapes. I like mixing old with new, so I keep a few vintage pieces in my wardrobe like my grandma’s handbag and mom’s old sweater.
We loved featuring you on our most recent campaign shoot for Femme Elan, what were some of the highlights for you on the day?
The location was this super cute beach, and despite it being late autumn, the weather was unexpectedly good - it was so dreamy from start until finish and working with a team like that was incredible.
What was your favourite SKYE & staghorn piece from this shoot?
I absolutely fell in love with the mustard bikini set with thick straps! The Henley Crop and Arlo High Waisted V Pant.
